Day 2 is an exciting & eventful day… we went around on the street of Tanjung Morawa inviting people to tonight’s crusade. We drove an hour and arrived there around noon time. The students just finish class and were making their way back home. Pastor Gandhi was our interpretor. We first came to this little school filled with secondary school boys, probably 16-17yr old. But most of them were sticking a cigarette in their mouths even in their school uniforms.
While Lawrence & Eddie were trying to invite them, large crowds of primary school students surrounded us. We took out our video camera & digi cam and started shooting around. The children were excited & thrilled by our presence. We looked like ‘aliens’ to them… hahaha…
Without hesitating, Bee Leng started to tell them about the events at Ecumenical Church. We told them that we will be having a short drama, song item, preaching of words. Most of all, we are also giving out sweets to them. They were SURPRISED to hear the word - sweets… All of them jumped for joy when they heard about it. We told them to spread the word around, and bring their friends, relatives and parents around. Immediately, we can see that the children were very interested in us. All we can see are happily, smiling kids… looking forward to tonight’s crusade.
More students came, and the words spread… they waved us goodbye, as we made our way back to Ecumenical Church for our lunch.
When we arrived at Ecumenical Church, we went around snapping photos of the few months old church building. Sandy floor, some attractive decro hanging from the rooftop, a keyboard and a guitar hung on the wall. Lunch was chicken with potato and carrot soup. During lunch, we discussed with Pastor Gandhi what we had prepared for tonight’s events. We tried to find out more information from him. Before we left Bukit Doa in the morning, Pastor Johnny told us that the people there were dying spiritually. Many Christians who came but soon given up hope on them. We hope we can do something for God tonight.
After lunch, we were to an old man’s place beside the church to pray for his healing. He was bed ridden for more than 10years. He was also hard on hearing. The team went into is room & prayed for him. His limbs and hands were skinny, bones covered with wrinkled skin. My heart was compassionate for him the moment I stepped into his stuffy room. Words of prayer filled the room, all of us were dripping in perspiration. The air was hot, and we were all drenched… the old man said he felt better, the pain is lesser, but he wants us to pray for his ears. Again, we prayed, believing that God will heal his hearing. He said he could hear better, and we prayed for the other ear. He could hear better too… PTL…
As we left the place, we told the old man & his wife to keep believing for his back, hands & legs. Healing is progressively… continue to believe…
After leaving the place, we were separated into 3 teams.
- Lawrence, Eddie
- Beng Leng, Ai Ling
- Chris, Cheer & me
We had to go for more visitation to those around the church. Our team had to go to buy the sweets for tonight crusade too. We came to this place which belong to the muslim residents. The houses there are more modern & expensive. When we approached one of the residents, he warned us to get a permit from the security before inviting anyone to the crusade. Argh… Setback, but nvm…
We went to a nearby mini-mart & bought lotsa things. After waiting for half an hour for the rest of them to fetch them, we headed to a bigger supermarket further down the road. We bought the wrappers for wrapping the sweets. We also bought lot of stuff them which we might need for the next few days.
After shopping, we made our way back to church. At 5pm, many children were already seated inside the hall. Chairs were laid, and we rehearsed our drama at the back alley. Soon… it stared to rain heavier & heavier. Oh gosh… we went around the church in prayer walk. Everyone of us… praying intensively… Power failure! Lights were gone.. and there were no torch-lights around.
But as we were standing outside the church, we saw a tree shaped of a cross. God, You are good! All of us were readily armored for the spiritual warfare. Because of the rain, some of the parents came & bought them children home. But God is good… as 2 children is being pulled away, more children came into the hall. Puji Tuhan…
At about 7:45pm, the service started. We had a candle light service. oh yes. THE RAIN STOPPED! The church was overflowed with people. 120 people came.
We did our first drama. We sang the only Bahasa Indonesia song we know-Menganal Mu. Lawrence preached the word. Yours truly shared my personal testimony.
At the end of the service, 38 responded to the altar call. 2 people were healed.
- Leg Pain gone
- Right side hearing recovered
Pastor Gandhi told us its revival. The church there never had that kind of attendance, not even on a sunny day. Wow… isn’t God wonderful?
It was an unforgettable candlelight service… Thank you, Jesus…
Power was restored when we left the village. But at Bukit Doa… there was a blackout till 5am. We slept with no air con and no fan… and lots of mosquitoes… Zzzzzzzzz

Taken in the dark, as you can see, we’re all using candle. The picyures are takne based on estimation, we couldn’t see what was on the screen. All these are effects of lashlight.
